1. How far is the nearest petrol station?
The petrol station is 4 km south of the hostel. The garage is an AA garage.

2. Is there a grocery store nearby?
The petrol station has a small shop with basic groceries. The nearest supermarket is in Dargaville (33kms away).

3. Where is the nearest bank?
There are banks and cash points in Dargaville (33 Kms away).
Please note that there are no ATM's between Dargaville and Kaitaia on the West Coast. Make sure you have enough cash for your trip.

4. Can we pay with credit card?
We do not have Credit Card or EFT-Pos facilities on site. We prefer cash!
You can prepay for your accomodation via our secure server over the Internet if you wish.

5. Do you have a book swap
Yes we do, and various board games but no TV.

6. Can we eat out in Kaihu?
Yes on Friday nights in the local pub, but only in summer. The nearest restaurants are in Baylys Beach and Dargaville. If you don’t want to go out we can provide home cooked meals most nights. We also have BBQ and Roast Meal nights. Breakfast is also available. Ask when booking.

7. What kind of animals do you have?
We have cows, calves, sheep, chooks, a cat, Buster the dog and Tweedledee and Tweedledum the kunekune pigs. The cat and dog are not allowed into the hostel (neither are the cows, calves, sheep, kunekunes and chooks).

8. Can we feed Buster?
No, but he loves to go for a walk in our bush with you
